Internationally known artist,
Brenda Mauney Councill's fine art career spans 30 years with studios in New York City, Atlanta and South Florida. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and her career was launched in
1963 at the age of 7
with a debut exhibition of paintings at the Jacksonville Museum of Arts and Sciences. Her first televised interview
attracted regional attention and yielded important commissions which led the
11 year old artist to design and supervise the installation of her first outdoor sculpture.
This early recognition of her talent art motivated the
creation of design
projects that attracted the attention of the National Media.
In 1976 her work appeared on
NBC'S TODAY SHOW,
where it was introduced by
Gene Shalit.
Ms. Councill's profound interest in Historic Preservation inspired an award-winning series of drawings first published in 1978, depicting significant landmarks in the South. Her
historic drawings and prints continue to be featured by Museums and Preservation Societies
in their effort to maintain historic architectural assets.
By the age of twenty, the artist maintained a full-time exhibition schedule. In the early eighties she began concentrating on intaglio printmaking and opened a studio
for the production and publication of Limited Edition Prints and promoted a prestigious exhibition space in partnership with internationally known
art collectors.
In 1987, she opened a second studio in
New York and began an impressive list of solo and group exhibitions that previewed her signature work of paintings and mixed-media constructions. The
Circle Gallery hosted a major venue
that gained widespread acclaim from such sponsors as
The Smithsonian Institution, The Susan and Stephen Geller Foundation, The Advertising Club of New York Foundation and The National Arts Club. Corporate collections include DuPont, AT&T, Credit Suisse, British Airways, and The Canadian Imperial Bank . Private collectors in New York, Florida and Europe include Roberta Von Schlossberg, Sidney Kimmel, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Adams, Brett Butler, the late Greta Garbo and the Duchess of Argyle.

Ms.Councill's study and travel in the great museums, castles and chateaux of Europe as well as ancient and exotic palaces of the East continue to inspire her work on a grand and lavish scale.
