Internationally known artist Brenda Mauney Councill now resides in Atlanta having relocated her studio from New York. Her fine arts career spans 25 years.  Ms. Councill grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and her career was launched in 1963 at the age of seven with a debut exhibition of paintings at the Jacksonville Museum of Arts and Sciences.  Her first televised interview prompted regional attention and yielded important commissions which led the 11 year old artist to design and supervise the installation of her first outdoor sculpture. This early recognition of her talent inspired art and design projects that attracted the attention of the National Media. And in 1976 her work appeared on NBC's Today Show, unveiled by Gene Shalit.

Ms. Councill's profound interest in historic preservation inspired an award winning series of drawings, first published in 1978 depicting significant landmarks in the South. Her devoted work in this area continues to help a variety of museums and preservation societies today.

By the age of twenty, Ms. Councill's exhibition schedule was full time. In the early eighties, she began concentrating on printmaking and opened a studio to publish limited edition prints and promoted a prestigious exhibition space in partnership with internationally known Art Collector, the late Dr. Anwar Kamal.

In 1987, she opened a second studio in New York and there began an impressive list of solo and group exhibitions that previewed her signature work of paintings and sculpture. The Circle Gallery hosted a major venue that gained widespread notoriety from such sponsors as The Smithsonian, The Susan and Stephen Geller Foundation, The Advertising Club of New York Foundation and the National Arts Club. Corporate Collectors include Dupont, AT&T, Credit Suisse and British Airways.

Currently her paintings have reached large-scale proportions designed for domed ceilings, soaring walls and entire rooms. Her distinguished clientele demand the unique and extraordinary and Ms. Councill's blend of travel and study in the great museums, castles and Chateaux of Europe as well as, the ancient and exotic palaces of the East continue to inspire her work on a grand and lavish scale.
